In this class, you’ll learn the very basics of knitting: casting on, the knit stitch, and binding off. In week one we’ll make a small toy/bookmark. In week two we’ll make sure we all remember the skills we learned previously and then we’ll make a square that can be turned into a number of different things (a coaster, a wrist warmer, a wallet, or whatever else we dream up). We’ll also talk about experimenting with our knitting – did you know that knitting utilizes not only creative, but mathematical and engineering skills as well? What can we build with two sticks and some string? Class price includes a basic supplies kit.
No prior experience needed. Suggested age 7 and up (you can confidently tie a knot)
Supplies included: yarn, knitting needles, darning needle, and a few extra bits and bobs for embellishment
